Welcome to the Lampen Mill web site.
Please stay a while, and let us introduce you to the peace and tranquility offered at this superb Bed & Breakfast.
The drive meanders between woodland trees to give views of the humpback and clapper bridges which are crossed before reaching this spectacular bed and breakfast. The accommodation set aside for guests features Columbian pine and a unique spiral staircase crafted by your host's father. Bedrooms with flowery fabrics and wallpapers are especially pretty and reflect the atmosphere of country calm. The breakfast room has pot plants, gold velvet high-backed chairs and wood burner in the granite and stone Inglenook and then opens into the conservatory. From there visitors can observe the abundant bird and animal life which inhabit the garden. At night old wrought-iron lights, salvaged from a railway station, illuminate the grounds in which this historical mill nestles.
Take an evening walk by The Mill Pond within the grounds of Lampen Mill, the focal point for the numerous species of wildlife. Be enchanted by the bright flash of the resident kingfisher as he dives for his supper. Listen to the soothing 'plop' of the trout as they rise under your gaze. Smile at the comical antics of the mallards as they splash and waddle at play. A scene, far from the stress and cares of modern living, leaving you refreshed and with a feeling of well-being and calm. You will appreciate the care that has been taken to create the grounds, and maintain the prosperity of nature which abounds in this area of outstanding beauty.

History
The Mill itself was derelict when bought by the family some 23 years ago, and with a lot of hard work and tender loving care, it has been restored to its former glory with granite and slate mined from local quarries.
Lampen Mill dates from the early 1740's as a Corn Mill and Cider Press, surrounded by what were once working Tin Mines. With the guidance of the proprietors, Heather and Chris, remnants of a tin mine can still be found.
Lampen Mill is ideally placed to explore both Devon and Cornwall, whether you want to enjoy the beauty of country walks or indulge in more energetic pursuits.
